Breath is a powerful gate between what we have in control and the autonomic. Maybe you wish to be a more present parent, argue less with your spouse or get the job you've been dreaming about for years. By allowing the body to tune into long, slow, deep breathing we are activating the parasympathetic branch of our nervous system. Pairing that with setting intentions and inviting all sensations, emotions and thoughts as part of our practice we are ultimately creating a new baseline for how safe we are to feel anything that comes our way. And having that capacity makes a huge difference. You stop reacting and start choosing your response to life. What freedom!
